The warmth of helping others in a small way

From time to time we can all become consumed by the events of the world.

The stresses the strains and the struggles. I am sure that is what grips most of us from time to time.

It refreshes the soul when you get out of “Yourself” and find small ways to assist others.

My wife of 30 plus years, as well as working in the field of Human Care, she has always taken in injured and stray wildlife of all varieties. So very often something unusual and different would just appear on the dining room table. And over the years all the family, including myself, have learned to care for these little orphans and those in need of help.

Our efforts are only a drop in the bucket, but the little we give to these animals, provides us with much more in return.

The same I find when I was contacted a few years ago by a friend from the past, asking if I would compere and ultimately help with the charity auctions for an organisation that works in the Domestic Violence field. Naturally, it was a big yes. Happy to volunteer my time. Over the last few years, I get the last minute call asking to run the Charity Auction, and every time I say yes. Simply because the little I can do with my skills in dragging money out of people in a fun way, helps so many people who suffer so much. And at the same time when I see someone Bid way over the value, simply to help the charity, the warmth you feel inside is incredible. I encourage anyone who can help anyone, in even the smallest way, to do it. Get out of your own way for a while. It will be worth it for you and for so many others.
